就是不明白中国征个房产税为什么这么紧张，别的国家，比如加拿大可是不管自住还是投资，每套都要交房价1%以上的房地产税，有些省还要交学校税呢。可没见几个人出来哭惨啊！

@海蓝 Base on the actual market transaction prices and the surrounding neighborhood data. However, there is something called Prop 13 which protected those who own properties prior to certain date. Prop 13 ensures their property tax will never exceed certain percentage a year. Thus your neighbor who owns their home under Prop 13 may pay just couple thousand dollars instead of ten of thousands.
